A brief history, from the beginning...
Way back in 1998 my mother wanted to start a home business online. We looked around for a few different ideas, and ways to get started. By early 1999 we were working on getting our item line sorted, and website designs sorted. Things were put on hold for a bit, due to finances, but were back in action as of 2001. Our main product line was online in a little webshop called StoneKeep Gifts & Novelties, and two sub sites, with specialty items. The first was my mother's 'baby' Kathi's Cozy Cottage Shoppe, featuring Shabby Elegance Home Decor, and items for bath and spa, as well as some candles and outdoor accessories. The started the second smaller shop at the request of my daughter, who decided she would like to have a little shop to 'manage'. I can't remember what we called it now, but it featured things for children and teens, including but not limited to: toys, games, bedding, clothing, and accessories. This was the beginning of a three generation family business!
We tried to keep it going for almost two years, but with limited knowledge of coding and design, issues with jobs out of the home, the hurricanes of 2004, and other basic "real life" issues, the shops were put on hold for a while. there was a name change and attempt at a comeback in 2006 or so. Simply Kitsch Gifts & Novelties was launched combining the 3 shops into one, an effort to contain the madness, and keep it all on one website. However due to time constraints, once again the shop was put on hold. Meanwhile, reality reared its ugly head, and the financial demons were right on our backsides, we braved the storms and tried to get this shop going!
Since then it has been an ongoing effort. In 2008 we founded our second home business, for our web design and computer related services. And here we are, now three yrs later. On the relationship front, things are fairly stable, and going well enough. As far as the children go, the kids will be kids! And last but not least,as far as my poor, neglected, first home business is concerned... well, here we go again! Going to try our best, yet again, and hope for some success!
